County Tipperary trainer Kevin Coleman has a good strike-rate with his runners in Britain and it may well have been better still had his Derry Lad received the luck in this race last year. That third followed a second for the stable in the 2021 Dash but this race is where they can break the ice at the Derby meeting, with AKECHETA. This mare, like Derry Lad, is likely to be coming from off the pace, but she looks ready to strike judged on her two eyecatching finishes over 1m at the Curragh this term. There are respected opponents, of course, and Defiance grabs the eye given his assignments last term and the good record in this race of his trainer Roger Varian. He's feared most, ahead of Botanical and Ashariba.[Richard Austen]
