Mahra's Love is a Haggas-trained handicap newcomer whose qualifying runs were encouraging and she's a must for the shortlist along with the consistent Whizz By. Another to bear in mind is EMPORESS who went close here on her only previous attempt at this trip and any give in the ground would only further enhance her prospects.[Alistair Jones]

Handicap debutante from a top yard and now stepping up from 6f; bumped into a classy opponent in her second race and perhaps a little below that level at Yarmouth, though again ran well; both turf runs on good to firm; has to be of interest.
Won a Thirsk nursery last September (6f, good to soft) and ran okay to be midfield on Windsor return (6f, good to firm) in April; due to step up to 7f at Chelmsford last evening (8.17).
Newcastle maiden winner earlier this year (1m, AW); thereabouts in three AW handicaps (7f/1m) before a fourth of eight at Newmarket where he tried to make all but faded; has a wide draw here, though significant rain would erase those concerns.
Has only won on the AW but a consistent run of form in handicaps includes a third at Nottingham (good); looks handicapped about right but has each-way claims; fine at 7f or 1m.
Runner-up in a 6f novice for George Boughey; tried this new headgear combination on handicap/stable debut at Windsor (6f, good to firm) but was weak in the market and well beaten; all runs on good or quicker ground.
Had plenty of racing at two, winning a nursery on heavy ground; consistent, though, and ran another sound race on stable debut at Wolverhampton (5f); runner-up here on only previous run over 7f; would appreciate any give underfoot; considered.
0-7 and has yet to be overly competitive, even when third at Beverley two runs back where he was beaten 6l; hood worn for his last two races now replaced by blinkers; not easily warmed to.
Took nine races to win for Brian Meehan (on soft at Bath); 0-6 for current yard and was kept to the AW until finishing well behind at Newmarket; now has a further tweak in his headgear.
His close fourth at Wolverhampton (7f) second time out is a bit of a standout and he's offered little in two handicaps since being gelded; cheekpieces need to bring something to the party.
Intial efforts were quite encouraging but he hasn't progressed at all and his handicap form is very forgettable; tried blinkers last time and now goes in cheekpieces.
