Spotlight :
One of the best hunter chasers in 2023; last season didn't go quite so well but he signed off with a Stratford win (2m6f, good) last May and won't mind what the weather does here; major player if fully tuned up.

Spotlight :
Useful handicapper; none too consistent but won three times last season (2m3f-3m1f) and looked as good as ever when third on reappearance outing at Wetherby (2m3f, good to soft) in October; will be a tough nut to crack if on song for this hunter chase debut.

Spotlight :
Dual chase winner in France; largely consistent over hurdles in Britain last season and was a respectable third (just behind Take All) on recent hunter chase debut at Taunton (2m5f, soft); probably won't be far away.

Spotlight :
Useful hurdler/chaser when based in Ireland; held every chance before running out at final fence in a point for new stable in November and kept on for second on recent hunter chase debut at Taunton (2m5f, soft); each-way claims at least.

Spotlight :
5-19 in points; still unexposed under rules but the maiden hunter chase he won comfortably at Cartmel (2m5f, good) last spring was a much weaker race than this one and today's slower ground is probably not in his favour.

Spotlight :
Placed in four handicaps over the big Aintree fences, so his new owner-jockey is presumably eyeing at crack at this season's Aintree Foxhunters'; certainly didn't run badly when fifth (albeit tired and well held in the end) in good-quality Haydock handicap (3m1f, heavy; first-time visor) last month and has a good chance here; usual cheekpieces refitted.

Spotlight :
Useful hurdler/chaser in his prime (eight wins under rules) but was safely held when making the frame in two open points for new stable last month and has more on his plate here.

Spotlight :
Quite useful hunter chaser in 2022 and 2023 but did not hit the same heights last year, albeit his Cheltenham third (2m4f, soft) was respectable; absent since last May and returns as a teenager; others preferred.

Spotlight :
Veteran; gave good account when placed in handicap hunter chase at Stratford (2m5f, good) last spring but that form is short of the standard likely to be required here and we haven't seen him since.

Spotlight :
Three point wins last season, the latest an easy success in a good-ground intermediate at Holnicote; makes hunter chase debut in a strong race, though, and has fitness to prove after 245-day absence.

Spotlight :
Fair handicap chaser for Michael Scudamore in 2022-23, with best run a C&D second (soft ground); makes hunter chase debut after a 666-day absence, though, and his current ability is hard to gauge.

Spotlight :
Useful handicapper for Emma Lavelle a few years ago but was safely held when 33-1 third in an eventful edition of this race a year ago and is a fair way down the pecking order in this field.
