A fascinating clash in this maiden. Archivist deserves to win a race having finished second in his last four starts and he looked unfortunate not to go even closer last time. However, he may have to settle for the runner-up spot again as MISTER RIZZ looked like a winner waiting to happen when a close second of 14 on last month's Kempton debut. The form of that race has worked out really well and this longer trip seems sure to suit.[David Bellingham]

Runner-up in his last four starts (three for Sir Michael Stoute) and looked unforunate not to finish closer on stable debut/reappearance at Nottingham (1m, good) three weeks ago, being stuck behind horses just as the winner enjoyed a clear run down the outside; up in trip and this Derby/Dante entry seems sure to run another big race.
Both runs for Ralph Beckett in AW novices this year, showing promise on his Lingfield debut (1m2f) but ending up well beaten at Southwell (1m4f); picked up for 6,000gns in March and should have more options in handicaps after this.
425,000gns yearling; 13-8 second-favourite when just losing out to his market rival (who had previous experience) on his Kempton debut (1m, AW) last month; form has worked out very well (winner went on to land the Esher Cup) and with the longer trip likely to suit, will pose a big threat to Archivist if building on that.
40,000euros foal; 300,000gns yearling; half-sister to winners Hale Bopp (7f/1m including 2yo/AW; RPR 102), Kestrel Prince (7f/7.4f 2yo; 87) and Willoughby Bay (6f including 2yo; 82); dam prolific Greek 6f-1m winner, sister to 8.4f 2yo winner Pussycat Lips; faces a stiff task on debut and stable doesn't have many winning newcomers.
