The improving b\Sole Solution is a good starting point and he has strong claims with this longer trip likely to suit. However, this could turn into a real slog so it might be worth chancing GAYE LEGACY at the foot of the weights on the back of an encouraging comeback at Sandown. Inconsistent but went very close at Newbury (3m, good to soft) on his final start last season and won on his reappearance there (3m, soft) in November, both times ridden by Freddie Mitchell; has struggled off new mark since and will have to produce a career best to win this.
Reliable 8yo who has continued to hold his form over fences and hurdles since completing a hat-trick in spring 2023; back up 2lb after another solid effort when runner-up at Exeter (2m7f, good to soft) just over two weeks ago which will make him vulnerable to less-exposed types.
Returned from break with a win at Aintree (2m4f) and matched that in defeat off 5lb rise when a close third at Haydock (2m3f, soft) in November; not in the same form when fading late at Ascot last month but can resume progress if suited by this step up in distance.
Won by a wide margin at Uttoxeter (2m4f, good to soft) last month and he didn't look short of stamina on the step up to 2m7f off 8lb higher when fourth at Ascot just over a week ago; he doesn't have the best strike-rate (2-21) but he's fairly reliable and not fully exposed as a stayer.
Not so good at Ascot nine days ago but he has some solid form this season, the standout being a 4l second at Aintree (2m4f, soft) on Boxing Day to one who has gone in again since; difficult to gauge the level of his ability and hard to rule out.
Back to peak form when winning in clearcut style at Sandown (2m4f, heavy) in December under Chad Bament but was beaten 40l at Haydock (3m, soft) in January; has the ability to figure if back on song.
Impressive winner of two bumpers two seasons ago and, after a long time on the sidelines, is beginning to confirm that initial promise now hurdling, most recently with a hard-fought win on handicap debut at Sandown (2m4f, heavy) 23 days ago; up 5lb but that looks manageable with improvement likely over this longer trip; key player.
Largely in good form this winter, posting a couple of solid seconds at about 3m (good to soft and soft) before a lesser effort at Warwick; back up in class off a workable mark but probably needs more for the win.
Thorough stayer who had a very solid campaign last season, nearly all in handicaps on slow ground, and she ran well for a long way back from a break when fourth in a Class 1 Sandown handicap (2m7f, heavy) this month; worth considering with that run behind her, especially should this turn into a real slog.
