Firm conclusions are tricky when there are so many basically unknown quantities in opposition - at handicap level, at the trip or on the surface - but KINGMAKER brings some of the most striking potential with his step up in distance. Others to note include Bentbasa (a strong finisher last time), Vilaine Verlaine (dual 1m2f AW winner) and bottomweight Nelson Gate, with the last named a speculative second choice.[Richard Austen]

Her two runs over 1m2f have brought two wins in nurseries on the AW at Chelmsford; they are also her only two races on AW but she went close once over 1m on good to firm; up another 7lb, so needs to keep improving.
Runner-up on first three starts, the worst of that form when he encountered good to firm on second occasion; also below form in a 1m1f nursery on soft on final outing; gelded since and has tongue tied first time.
All four starts have been on AW; won a Newcastle maiden (1m) in January from the front but she underperformed when trying 1m2f on handicap debut at Lingfield nearly three months later; early days.
Flopped at Pontefract (soft) on final 2yo run but, having been gelded, he was back to form when third of six in handicap at Wolverhampton (9.4f, AW) last month; needs to build on that but he did run on nicely from rear.
Won by a head on handicap debut at Wolverhampton (9.4f, AW) in December; back down in trip when good second of 14 at Chelmsford (1m2f) two weeks ago, with cheekpieces added, but this is his first turf start since soundly beaten on good ground on debut.
He stayed on from off the pace when showing significant ability over about 1m (AW/heavy) on last two starts as 2yo; gelded since; better is needed but he's shaped as if this longer trip will help.
Newbury debut (6f, good to firm) last July looked much better than his 7f runs at this track in October and 15 days ago; going handicapping today, however, should be a much more realistic task than last time and there's enough hope in the pedigree for this trip.
Well beaten on good to soft here on debut; fair form in his two AW maidens since, also 1m, and crying out for 1m2f+ judged on latest and his pedigree; one to be interested in, therefore, now he's at 1m2f for handicap debut.
While no improvement in his form since debut (on soft, sole run on turf) he has taken minor honours in AW handicaps, second of six over 1m3f at Kempton in February last time; that run was also under Warren Fentiman.
Probably acts on good to firm; creditable fifth of 12 at Wolverhampton (8.6f, AW) in December last time, her second handicap; this race will demand a fair bit more on first start since changing hands and leaving Ed Walker.
Two runs on heavy here as 2yo and one on Kempton AW; gelded since; late foal who's bred to stay at least this far; there's been a whiff of ability, so he needs a second look on this switch of surface and to handicaps.
