It's fair to say CORSICAN CAPER is most effective on soft/heavy turf but he's well up to winning off this mark on Tapeta, having not had things fall his way at Southwell before predictably finding 1m2f an inadequate test at Doncaster. Sydney Seabreeze ran well enough on his recent C&D comeback, having been gelded, to be second choice.[Graham Wheldon]

Regressive maiden who again pulled hard over C&D ten days ago, hanging right and cracking late having gone to the front; this mark is within range if he's more amenable, switched from cheekpieces to first-time blinkers, but therein lies the gamble.
String of poor efforts on the Flat since two wins over hurdles last November, latterly when finishing last behind Emaculate Soldier over C&D; easy enough to look elsewhere.
Solid comeback off this mark over C&D three weeks ago, having been gelded, when best of the rest behind an improver; entitled to have come on for that first run in five months and shortlisted back in cheekpieces.
Three Southwell wins last spring, latterly off tonight's mark; has been off since said to have stopped quickly and pulled up three months ago, and it will be interesting to see how he goes in the market for his new yard (also runs Corsican Caper).
Won four on soft/heavy turf last season (1m4f-2m), latterly off 8lb higher; offered more again back on grass under Mason Paetel last time, despite predictably finding 1m2f an inadequate test, and that gave something to build on.
Notched her second 2m win here when going in off a 3lb lower mark four months ago; has been typically hit and miss under both codes since and it's no coincidence her three career victories have all come at big prices.
Cheekpieces have helped but she's looked to have no excuses a couple of times over C&D off her revised mark since a Chelmsford win off 3lb lower in February; needs to find a bit more from somewhere.
