Our Dagger seemed to have a bit left in the tank when winning twice on the AW for his new stable at the start of this year and his running style could make it tricky for the handicapper to pin him down. However, his turf return comes after a 75-day break and preference is for STARLINER, who was placed in higher-grade company at Thirsk recently and benefits from Tommie Jakes' useful 5lb claim here. Ought to have been suited by the soft ground when ending last season with a below-par run but has a very good record when fresh and is now 3lb lower than when beginning his 2024 campaign with a win.
Unexposed 4yo who won small-field novice on debut in January; just a respectable fifth on last month's handicap debut (also 6f, AW), though, and needs this new trip-and-surface combination to enable improvement.
Came good last season with two 7f wins in September (good to soft/good); made nothing more than a satisfactory reappearance this month but has possibilities here if that run brought him on.
Well handicapped on some of his winter AW form but did not fire when back on turf in first-time blinkers (now removed) a fortnight ago and comes here with a bit to prove.
Did not hit top gear during light Flat campaign for Mark Walford in 2024 and has cut little ice over hurdles for Paul Robson this year, with latest heavy defeat coming off a lowly handicap mark; difficult to enthuse over.
Consistent without winning during five-race campaign for James Horton last season (6f-7f); starts off for new stable on a workable mark but has fitness to prove and would appeal more on good to soft or slower.
In good form on AW before returning to turf with creditable third at Thirsk (7f, good) this month; remains on a workable mark and is reunited with 5lb claimer Tommie Jakes (who has won on him) today; major player.
Yet to add to his two 2yo wins but gave good account when placed at Redcar (7f, soft) in November and resumes on a 1lb lower mark; also suited by good ground; has a chance if fully tuned up.
Almost always loses ground at the start but kept on well for third on seasonal reappearance at Redcar (1m, good to firm) a week ago and can cope with today's drop back in trip; one to consider.
Dual 6f winner off higher marks last season; stays 7f well enough but signed off with two down-the-field runs in October and does not have a compelling record when fresh.
Suffered dip in form after winning consecutive 7f races last May/June but was seemingly back in the groove when second to Count Palatine at Thirsk (7f, good to soft) in September, having raced wide throughout; not yet fully exposed; market helpful on seasonal reappearance.
Low-mileage 4yo who is 2-2 on AW for new stable this year, finishing strongly to win quite cosily over 7f on both occasions; absent since mid-February and moves up in grade for this turf return but could quite plausibly have more improvement to come for Daragh Bourke.
